Wyndam Lewis' work tends to focus upon the industrial as a subject matter as well as incorporating portraiture into his later works, this interest in the industrial would lead him to found the Vorticism movement, which would feature elements of Surrealism and Cubism. The Vorticism movement tended to contain geometric, abstracted forms that had ties to machines and urban architecture. In terms of influences, Lewis drew heavily upon both Futurism and Cubism, he said that Cubism didn't seem as "alive" as futurist art but found the strong structure of Cubism appealing, a juxtaposition in that Futurist art lacked structure. His Vorticism movement combined the two movements in a dramatic and striking critique of modernity. The majority of his worked appeared as oil paint on stretched canvas. If I were to take anything away from Lewis' work, I'd focus upon the aesthetics of Vorticism, the string geometric form and energy that it seemed to bring.
