Abraham Rattner (July 1893-February 1978) was a painter, mosaicist and stained glass artist, he's best known for his richly coloured, vibrant paintings that would often depict imagery that centered around religion as well as the timeless themes of suffering, death, and spiritual joy.

By the time that World War 2 had broken out, Rattner had thoroughly absorbed Cubism, Futurism and other modern modes of figuration into his artistic repertoire, his work was greatly influenced by Pablo Picasso and Georges Roulout.

It was the composition of Rattner's work which originally drew my attention towards his work, the way in which he broke down the composition of his images and then reconstructed them

into forms that were reminiscent of their original shape.
