Statement of Intent

Life and its absence has always interested me, as an artist, how it affects the self through its ever present finality. I want to investigate the idea of juxtaposing macabre imagery with bright, vibrant colors exploring my own mortality through my work.

I feel that the medium of paint might be best served in my work,as it'll allow me the freedom to experiment with mixing colors directly onto the canvas/paper. However, I'm also intending to investigate using printmaking,due to the fact that screen printing can also allow me to achieve the bright, vibrant colors that I'm going to be looking for in my practice.

My success will be measured by but not limited to whether or not I found that the juxtaposition of dark imagery with bright, traditionally happy colors has helped me explore my own mortatlity.
