These were quick, experimental oil pieces, focusing on layering and vibrancy. I found that I was taking too long making a piece of work, so these were created with a set time limit of up to 30 minutes each and it also allowed me to be less careful with my work, as I wouldn't be able to go back to them.

The focus here was on negative space, to create a vibrant, loud background that emphasised the negative space through drawing the outline of the skull over and over again with the same palette.

By going over the top of my original image, I created the effect of the image being blurry or out of focus as a small experiment with the thought that death is a concept that it difficult to grasp and accept when you first hear it.

The final piece explored how the back ground that an image occupies could affect it, does the drawing being on 3 seperate pieces of paper and then joined together give it a greater impact than if it were just on a singular piece of paper?
