In terms of development, I continued with the idea of layering and texturing by taking it in a very literal sense. By covering a large part of the previous version of the work with more paper and then carrying on painting over the top and then tearing that away to reveal the previous version, I create a sense of intrigue within the audience; further exemplified by the loose hanging edges of the paper, inviting the viewer to pull away the rest of it in order to reveal the work beneath. I found this idea interesting in terms of a gallery setting, the desire to peel back the work is in direct contrast to the established rules of the gallery.
The geometric piece below is the result of my research into Picasso and George Condo, I had difficulty in changing my painting practice to something more disciplined and precise after working very loosely for a while. However, one of the advantages is that the colours are richer and more vibrant from the multiple layers.
