Francis Bacon. Study for a Portrait, 1952, Oil paint and sand on canvas.

]The manner in which Francis Bacon uses 3d abstraction on the figures within his paintings is what captured my attention, using a typically flat, non descriptive background to provide a contrast to the central image of the figure.

As well as this, his works tie to the theme emotionally charged and striking, which is something that I try to infuse within my own work.
