Georg Baselitz, Nude, Oil on Canvas, 1972
I was drawn towards examining this artist originally because of the fact he presented his paintings upside down in order to force the audience to view his representational paintings in a distinct, non-representational manner. It was also the expressive, layered manner of his paintings that excited me, the rough mark making belying a sense of urgency.
